Position Summary
The Social Media Engagement Coordinator is CrossExamined’s digital audience expert, the person who knows our followers and target audiences best, stays ahead of trends, and helps the ministry communicate effectively in today’s fast-moving online culture.
This role serves as the front-line voice of CrossExamined on social media, actively engaging with followers, responding to comments and questions, and representing our mission and tone across all platforms. Beyond engagement, this person also “coaches up” to keep the creative team and senior leaders informed about audience sentiment, cultural trends, and emerging digital conversations that affect our outreach and message impact.
This is not a 9–5 position. The role requires flexibility to support live events, breaking news moments, and social activity spikes, particularly during Frank Turek’s campus events and major campaign launches.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Audience Engagement and Community Building
- Serve as the daily voice of CrossExamined on platforms including Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, X, and TikTok.
- Respond to comments, direct messages, and questions with clarity, professionalism, and ministry-aligned tone.
- Encourage constructive, thoughtful conversation while protecting the integrity of the ministry’s online presence.
- Guide users to CrossExamined content and resources that address their questions about faith, morality, and truth.
2. Digital Culture and Trend Expertise
- Stay up to date on online conversations, trending topics, and viral moments relevant to faith, apologetics, and cultural issues.
- Analyze social media and pop culture trends that affect how audiences think and communicate about truth, Christianity, and worldview.
- Regularly “coach up” the Social Media Manager, Creative Services leadership, and management team on emerging trends and language that can inform creative direction and content strategy.
- Identify potential engagement opportunities and cultural moments that align with CrossExamined’s mission and voice.
3. Event and Campaign Support
- Provide real-time engagement during Frank Turek’s live events, podcasts, and key content drops.
- Collaborate with the Social Media Manager and Coordinator to ensure that engagement activity aligns with scheduled posts.
- Help plan engagement strategies for high-impact campaigns, including Q&As, live chats, and audience follow-up interactions.
4. Insights, Reporting, and Collaboration
- Gather qualitative feedback from followers and share audience insights in weekly or monthly reports.
- Identify frequently asked questions or audience concerns to inform future video, podcast, and course content.
- Partner with the Social Media Manager to evaluate engagement metrics and assess community health and tone.
- Collaborate closely with the creative and communications teams to ensure messages resonate with our digital audience.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Media, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2 years of experience in social media engagement, audience development, or digital community management. If a recent college graduate, able to demonstrate skills and understanding.
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills with strong cultural awareness.
- Deep familiarity with online trends, meme culture, and digital storytelling within a Christian or worldview context.
- Strong judgment and discernment in responding to sensitive or controversial discussions.
- Working knowledge of analytics tools (Meta Business Suite, YouTube Studio, etc.).
- Passion for Christian apologetics and the mission of CrossExamined.
- Flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed for live events and digital engagement cycles.
Work Environment
- Fully remote, collaborative position working closely with the Social Media Manager, Social Media Coordinator, and Creative Services team.
- Requires flexibility to engage during nontraditional hours when social activity is high or when Frank’s live events occur.
