Position Overview
The Copywriter creates engaging, accurate, and brand-aligned written content that supports CrossExamined’s digital presence across podcasts, social media, newsletters, and online courses.
This position plays a key role in crafting podcast episode descriptions, social media posts, and weekly newsletters that clearly communicate the ministry’s mission and deepen audience engagement. The Copywriter ensures that all written materials reflect CrossExamined’s distinctive tone—clear, intelligent, and accessible—while maintaining theological and stylistic consistency across CrossExamined.org, Online Christian Courses (OCC), and Impact Apologetics.
Key Responsibilities
1. Podcast and Media Support
- Write compelling podcast episode descriptions for publishing on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and other platforms.
- Collaborate with the Creative Services and Digital Projects teams to ensure podcast content is optimized for engagement, clarity, and discoverability.
- Collaborate in identifying key themes, quotes, or ideas from each episode to be used for promotional clips, graphics, and marketing copy.
2. Social Media Copywriting
- Write engaging captions and short-form copy for CrossExamined, OCC, and Impact Apologetics across social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, X, etc.).
- Adapt tone and structure to fit each platform while maintaining brand and theological accuracy.
- Collaborate with the Senior Manager of Creative Services, Social Media Manager, and design team to ensure alignment between copy and visuals.
- Support paid and organic social media campaigns with concise, call-to-action-driven copy.
3. Newsletter and Email Content
- Write and edit weekly e-newsletters for CrossExamined.org, crafting headlines, intros, and calls-to-action that increase opens and clicks.
- Ensure newsletter copy aligns with podcast, video, and course promotion priorities.
- Coordinate with the Creative Services team to ensure timely delivery and accuracy of all email copy.
- Assist in refining email messaging and segmentation strategies based on campaign objectives and audience engagement.
4. Online Course and Resource Support
- Write promotional copy, course summaries, and lesson descriptions for Online Christian Courses and Impact Apologetics.
- Collaborate with the Manager of Digital Projects to align messaging and launch timing with broader marketing plans.
- Ensure all course and resource copy maintains theological accuracy and communicates learning value effectively.
5. Website Content
- Draft or edit landing page copy, and web content as needed.
- Optimize copy for clarity, readability, and SEO best practices.
- Collaborate with creative and technical staff to ensure web and blog content enhances user experience and conversions.
6. Brand and Voice Consistency
- Maintain CrossExamined’s brand voice—confident, conversational, and grounded in truth.
- Ensure all written materials are consistent in tone, message, and theological soundness.
- Partner with the Senior Manager of Creative Services to continually refine language strategy and messaging across platforms.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, English, or related field.
- 2–4 years of professional experience in writing, editing, or content development (ministry or media experience preferred).
- Excellent writing, proofreading, and storytelling skills.
- Proven ability to write for multiple digital channels, including email, web, and social media.
- Strong grasp of Christian apologetics or willingness to learn the content quickly and accurately.
- Ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple concurrent projects.
- Proficiency in tools such as Microsoft, KIT, Cava, etc.
- Commitment to the Christian faith and alignment with CrossExamined’s mission and values.
Work Environment
- Fully remote, collaborative, and fast-paced creative environment.
- Flexible hours may be required to align with podcast and content release schedules.
- Requires self-motivation, adaptability, and close coordination with Creative Services, Social Media, and Digital Projects teams.
Performance Objectives
The Copywriter will be evaluated on:
- Writing Quality: Clarity, creativity, and accuracy of content across all platforms.
