Position Summary
We’re searching for a passionate, mission-oriented, and creative Assistant Webmaster to support the growth of our international web ecosystem.
This role is ideal for someone technically strong in WordPress development and site management—organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about leveraging digital tools to support global ministry efforts while safeguarding our intellectual property and resources.
You’ll be joining the CrossExamined International IT Team, responsible for keeping our sites updated, backed up, and running smoothly—while assisting with front-end adjustments, server-level tasks, and content deployment in collaboration with our global translation teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and manage 12+ independent WordPress sites across subdomains
- Perform regular updates to WordPress core, plugins, and themes
- Monitor and maintain full-site backup systems (ManageWP, Dropbox, local, and NAS redundancy)
- Assist with DNS management, SSL setup, and server-side configuration tasks
- Troubleshoot website bugs or display issues (HTML/CSS/JS/PHP)
- Support layout, formatting, and content publishing across multiple languages
- Optimize site speed, SEO (Yoast), and performance across devices
- Follow and improve internal SOPs for site management, risk mitigation, and deployment
- Collaborate with our Webmaster, translation, copywriting, and creative global teams
- Stay current with WordPress best practices, plugin updates, and security protocols
Requirements
- 2+ years of professional experience managing WordPress websites
- Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP
- Familiarity with hosting dashboards (cPanel, Plesk, or similar), FTP/SFTP, and file structure
- Experience using ManageWP (or similar tools) for monitoring and backups
- Basic DNS and domain management experience (e.g., A records, CNAME, SSL certificates)
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to site consistency and integrity
- Ability to manage multiple sites and priorities with focus and reliability
- Agreement with CrossExamined’s Christian Statement of Faith, mission, and values
Preferred Skills (Bonus)
- Experience with WP-CLI, Git, or other developer tools
- Familiarity with multilingual WordPress plugins (Polylang or WPML)
- Comfortable with SEO tools like SEMrush, Yoast Pro, or Google Search Console
- Understanding of SEO and page speed optimization best practices
- Experience in a ministry, nonprofit, or mission-driven organization
