Job Overview

The Senior Graphics Designer creates visually compelling digital content that brings the mission of CrossExamined to life across all platforms—including CrossExamined.org, Online Christian Courses (OCC), and Impact Apologetics.

This role is responsible for producing high-quality graphics and short-form video clips for podcasts, livestreams, social media, online courses, donor campaigns, and digital ads. The Senior Graphics Designer collaborates closely with the Senior Manager of Creative Services to execute creative direction, maintain brand excellence, and ensure consistency across all digital touchpoints.

This position also coordinates with the Manager of Digital Projects on timelines and deliverables for OCC and Impact Apologetics projects and supervises the Graphics Designer, ensuring visual quality, innovation, and efficiency in all design outputs.


Key Responsibilities

1. Podcast, Livestream, and Video Design

  • Design podcast thumbnails, livestream graphics, lower thirds, and other visual elements for Frank Turek’s “I Don’t Have Enough Faith to Be an Atheist” and related media.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Manager of Creative Services and video editors to ensure graphics enhance storytelling, engagement, and viewer experience.
  • Develop templates and motion elements that support the ministry’s media production needs and align with CrossExamined’s visual identity.

2. Social Media Graphics and Video Clips

  • Design engaging static graphics and produce short-form video clips, reels, and motion graphics for YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and X.
  • Edit and format creative assets with text overlays, motion, and branding optimized for digital engagement.
  • Collaborate closely with the Senior Manager of Creative Services and social media team to align creative assets with campaign strategy and current trends.
  • Stay up to date with emerging design and video trends to keep CrossExamined’s content visually fresh and relevant.

3. Online Course and Educational Design

  • Coordinate with the Manager of Digital Projects to create visuals for Online Christian Courses (OCC) and Impact Apologetics projects.
  • Develop visual systems for each course or product, including typography, color palettes, and style guides.
  • Design workbook layouts, course materials, and digital assets that strengthen comprehension and visual appeal.
  • Ensure all educational designs support both learning goals and CrossExamined’s brand identity.

4. Advertising and Campaign Design

  • Design creative assets for digital campaigns, web banners, email graphics, and donor initiatives.
  • Work with the Senior Manager of Creative Services to develop and refine creative concepts for campaigns, promotions, and ministry events.
  • Produce static and motion graphics for campaigns and partnerships (e.g., Pray.com, Brave Books) to enhance reach and engagement.

5. Brand Consistency and Team Leadership

  • Uphold and advance the CrossExamined brand identity across all visual and video outputs.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Manager of Creative Services to ensure all creative work meets brand standards and ministry objectives.
  • Supervise the Graphics Designer, providing direction, feedback, and mentoring to ensure quality and professional development.
  • Maintain awareness of new design tools, motion graphics software, and production techniques to continually improve team capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Digital Media, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in digital graphic design and visual content production.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, After Effects) or similar tools.
  • Experience producing short-form video clips and motion graphics for social media platforms.
  • Strong understanding of design principles, including color theory, typography, layout, and brand systems.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative team player with experience working closely with creative directors or managers.
  • Commitment to the Christian faith and alignment with CrossExamined’s mission and values.

Work Environment

  • Leadership: Oversight, mentoring, and coordination of the Graphics Designer role.
  • Strategic Impact: Contribution to visual storytelling that enhances engagement, brand recognition, and ministry growth.
