Through live events, podcasts, online courses, and digital media, CrossExamined reaches millions each month—defending truth with clarity and creativity.
CrossExamined’s Creative Services team produces all visual and multimedia content for CrossExamined and its related business units: Online Christian Courses (OCC), Impact Apologetics (IA), and CrossExamined International, communicating biblical truth through media that is intelligent, bold, and visually compelling.
Role Purpose
The Motion Designer/Animator creates visually engaging motion graphics, animated sequences, and visual effects for CrossExamined’s digital media projects and special video initiatives.
This role works closely with Dr. Frank Turek and the Creative Services team to bring stories, data, and ideas to life through animation and design. The Motion Designer also contributes to creative brainstorming sessions, collaborating on new concepts, styles, and campaign visuals that strengthen the ministry’s impact across platforms.
Projects include special videos for Frank’s presentations and digital storytelling pieces.
Core Responsibilities
1. Motion Design and Animation
- Create animated sequences, kinetic typography, transitions, and motion graphics for videos, courses, and campaigns.
- Develop visually engaging intro and outro animations for Frank Turek’s podcast, and promotional videos.
- Animate logos, graphics, and visual elements for events, social media, and online platforms.
- Integrate motion elements into existing video edits in collaboration with the Video Editor and Producer.
- Design and animate on-screen graphics and visualizations that clarify complex topics or illustrate apologetics concepts.
2. Special Projects for Frank and Ministry Campaigns
- Produce custom animated segments, explainer videos, and visual assets for Frank’s live presentations and conferences .
- Develop creative video elements for conferences, events, and digital marketing efforts that reinforce ministry themes and messages.
- Ensure all animations align with the tone, theology, and visual identity of CrossExamined.
3. Creative Collaboration and Brainstorming
- Participate actively in Creative Services brainstorming sessions, offering ideas for campaign visuals, storytelling, and new media approaches.
- Collaborate closely with the Senior Manager of Creative Services, Senior Graphics Designer, and Video Editor to ensure unified visual direction.
- Experiment with new design styles, motion techniques, and visual trends to keep CrossExamined’s media fresh and innovative.
- Contribute creative input to enhance video storytelling, transitions, and pacing.
4. Technical and Production Support
- Render and deliver motion graphics in the correct formats, resolutions, and aspect ratios for YouTube, social media, livestreams, and presentations.
- Manage project files, templates, and motion libraries for reuse across future projects.
- Maintain organized file systems and backups within the shared Creative Services workspace.
5. Brand Consistency and Quality
- Ensure all motion design adheres to CrossExamined’s brand identity, typography, and color standards.
- Maintain high-quality output for all animations—polished, balanced, and on-brand.
- Implement feedback from creative leadership with precision and attention to detail.
- Support continual refinement of visual identity and storytelling techniques across departments.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Motion Design, Animation, Digital Media, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of professional experience in motion design, animation, or multimedia production.
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, and related software (Photoshop, Illustrator).
- Knowledge of 2D and/or 3D animation principles, typography, and composition.
- Familiarity with video editing workflows and integration of motion assets.
- Strong creative instincts, storytelling ability, and eye for design aesthetics.
- Experience working with cross-functional creative teams and managing multiple projects.
- Alignment with CrossExamined’s Christian mission, values, and commitment to truth-centered communication.
